The inside is marked with 6 scales in a 16" module with mortar space, including 2 courses in a 16" space for concrete and glass blocks; 3 courses in a 16" space for facing tile; 4 courses in a 16" space for small facin g tile and economy brick; 5 courses in a 16" space for engineered brick; 6 courses in a 16" space for standard brick; 8 courses in a 16" space for Roman brick. Also used for spacing 6" and 12" blocks because the sections, other than the short section, are an even 6"L. Outside of rule is graduation on both edges consecutive inches to 16ths. First end section is a short section which permits butting.
